Why are some notes light gray?

Our notation editor lets you edit only one voice at a time. The notes and rests in the currently editable voice are displayed in standard black. Notes and rests in all other voices are displayed in light gray.

You can switch among voices using the 1-4 numbers at upper right, or search our editor search for “Switch to voice.”

This gray coloring only happens during editing, not during viewing.
