Become a master music transcriber

Transcribing music is a huge hassle. Soundslice makes it easy.

Get started — it’s free to try

The world’s best music transcribing experience

Soundslice is a sheet music editor with built-in support for synced audio.

Import a YouTube video or MP3, and we’ll give you very fine-grained ways to dig in. Make precise loops, slow down without changing pitch, and navigate to exact moments.

As you figure out notes, enter them in our editor. Then listen to your transcribed notes overlayed with the original recording, to check your pitches and rhythms.

It’ll save you time, and it’ll help you make more accurate transcriptions. If there’s a better tool, we haven’t seen it.

Preserve your hard-earned knowledge

Transcribing is a lot of work — so we make sure that the end result is something you can benefit from for a long time.

When you use Soundslice, you create something much more valuable than a PDF. You create an interactive practice tool for the specific piece of music you’re studying.

Switch from our editor into our player, and you can take advantage of tons of practice features.

So even weeks after you’re done transcribing, you can return to your work and practice immediately — without having to dig up the recording again.

Your notes in the cloud

Soundslice is entirely web-based. That means there’s nothing to install, and you can use it from any web browser.

Start a transcription on your phone, then pick it up later on your computer? Sure, no problem.

And if you’d like, it’s easy to share your work with the Soundslice community, so people can learn what you’ve transcribed.

Of course, you’re always welcome to keep things to yourself, too. Everything in your account is private by default.

Questions and answers

How much does this cost?

There’s a free option and there’s a paid option. The free plan is great for getting to know our software. The paid option gets you more features.

With a free account, you can use Soundslice to transcribe YouTube videos. There’s no limit on the number of pieces of music (“slices”) you create. We provide this as a service to the musician community, and, frankly, this can get you pretty far.

With a paid account (the “Plus” plan), you can transcribe MP3 files and video files you’ve uploaded directly to our site. Plus: higher-quality slowdown, pitch correction, auto syncing, MIDI note entry, multitrack stems and custom keyboard shortcuts. And the warm feeling of supporting a small, independent company.

For an exhaustive comparison of our plans, see here.

Does Soundslice transcribe automatically?

No. No software in the world does that with any reasonable degree of accuracy. Maybe someday. Instead, we make it as efficient as possible for you to transcribe manually.

Can I export my work?

Yes, with one of our paid plans. You can export in MusicXML, GPX (Guitar Pro), PDF and MIDI.

Is Soundslice primarily transcription software?

No, transcribing is just one part of Soundslice. We’ve got a whole suite of tools for learning, practicing and teaching music. Check out our practice features, notation editor and PDF/image importer.
