Copyright and DMCA
The Soundslice community section is intended for music that you’ve written yourself, or licks you’ve transcribed. The point is to share educational snippets that help your fellow musicians. It’s not a general-purpose sheet music library.
With that in mind, don’t post copyrighted material. That’s not what the Soundslice community section is for.
DMCA policy
Per our Terms of Use, here’s our policy on copyright violations in Soundslice community posts.
Copyright holders, if you find something in violation in a Soundslice community post, please submit a takedown notice to us at feedback@soundslice.com with the following information, per the DMCA:
- the signature of the copyright owner or an authorized agent;
- the specific soundslice.com URLs identifying the copyrighted work(s) claimed to have been infringed;
- contact information for the copyright owner or authorized agent;
- a statement that the person sending the notice has a good faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; and
- a statement that the information in the notice is accurate, and under penalty of perjury, that the person sending the notice is authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner.
Here’s our policy on what we do upon receiving a DMCA takedown notice for a given “slice” (a distinct piece of music on our site):
- We unpublish the slice from the user’s Soundslice channel. This means it’s no longer publicly accessible and no longer visible in search results.
- We give the slice a special status in our system, such that it cannot be published to the user’s channel again. The slice remains in the user’s private Soundslice account, so they can continue practicing it on their own.
- We email the user to let them know about this removal.
- We email the copyright holder to confirm the removal.
For users who repeatedly infringe copyright, we reserve the right to disable their public Soundslice channel.
