Get your hands on the Live to See Another Day guitar tab bundle, straight from my original rock project under the name Troglojam. It’s a gritty hard rock tune packed with driving eighth-note grooves, thick riffs, and an extended solo that’s anything but predictable. You’ll hit bluesy double stops, stretch your technique, and explore different modes all while keeping the energy cranked up. It’s a fun challenge, especially if you're around the intermediate to advanced level.

The bundle includes synced audio with full tabs, a backing track to jam along with, and homemade videos where I play through the entire solo section and some key licks. No talking or lessons—just the playing and a few of my personal insights on how the song came together. If you need help along the way, don’t hesitate to drop me a message.

The solo leans heavily on Em and Am pentatonic shapes, flavored with blues and Dorian tones to give it both grit and melody. But there’s also a healthy dose of exploration—side-stepping, chromatic passing tones, and glimpses of the melodic minor scale all show up to stretch the vocabulary just enough without losing the core energy. Plenty of rock articulations—bends, slides, and vibrato—keep it feeling raw and expressive. Toward the end, the structure loosens into more improvisational territory, with freer phrasing and spontaneous lines that go beyond the grid.

A few standout sections deserve a closer listen. Bars 50–54 and 60–62 mark a clear shift in feel: here, I dig into a legato-heavy approach and intentionally play slightly ahead of the beat. It’s not about strict timing—it’s about letting the lines breathe and float, like a brief escape from the groove. These noodling, contour-driven phrases are meant to carry the listener for a moment, adding contrast to the otherwise tight rhythmic structure.

One featured lick is based around the E Dorian ♭2 scale (aka D melodic minor), and I use arpeggios built from that mode to create a more angular, exotic sound. The tension this creates resolves satisfyingly into the E blues scale—back to familiar ground, but with some added flavor. You can hear the shift clearly in the synced audio and video slices included in the bundle.

Another fun touch is a classic bending trick you might recognize—first bend on the 2nd string, then switch to a pre-bent note on the 3rd string, slowly releasing it. It’s a technique used by players like Hendrix and EVH, and it adds a human, vocal-like quality that really sings. There’s also a phrase that starts off with a bit of chromatic chaos—randomness, on purpose—before settling into a bluesy Dorian groove with little positional shifts that keep it feeling fresh.

All in all, this solo is a mix of precision and playfulness, grounded in familiar scales but open to going off-script when it feels right. It’s not just about shredding—though there’s some of that too—it’s about telling a story with the guitar. If that sounds like your thing, give it a go, and feel free to reach out if you want to talk shop or swap ideas. Hope you enjoy diving into it as much as I did putting it together.
