QUADRIADS – Mastering 4-Note Voicings on Vibraphone
This exercise pack is designed to develop mastery of four-note chords (Maj7, 7, m7, m7(maj7), m7♭5, 7sus4(♭5), dim, dim9, m6 and m69) through the cycle of fourths, with a practical approach tailored for vibraphone.
The cycle starts on F, the optimal choice as it is the lowest available note on the instrument.
In every bar you will find four chords, moving through the different inversions of the selected chord type. The direction (ascending or descending) depends on the available range on the instrument. The goal is to internalize this movement pattern, allowing you to shift voicings upward or downward freely, based on musical and technical needs, while avoiding the limitations of the instrument's range.
