Bio

The name of my poetry book is Ashay Speaks, it is a collection of poems about the African Diaspora Experience and Black Victims of Hitler, which is an obscure fact of African American History. I have a homebased business where I use my other skills in the health and beauty industry. I have a cat name Midnight that adores me. :D I love listening to and singing Jazz. One of my fondest musical memories was when my mom took me to see Les McCann in Redondo Beach. I was 12 years old. I am formally trained as a singer in classical music and I have years of experience with choral singing in the tradition of the Fisk University Jubilee Singers. I will be singing at Carnegie Hall with an ensemble with my director as he makes his conducting and composing debut of Gospel and Spirituals in the Summer of 2023 . I have a military back ground as a Jet engine Mechanic and Hospital Corpsman for 9 years serving in the Air Force Reserves and United States Navy active duty. I am a avid writer both as a songwriter, poet and scholar. I recently co-wrote a song as a tribute to homelessness entitled, Homeless Lullaby. I am very excited about this project because it is based on a poem that I written and featured in my book, Ashay Speaks. Music Technology is one of my passions and musical pursuits. I use my voice for social justice. Many of my poems are art for social justice and activism. I have a warrior's spirit and will use my talent, gifts and wherewithal to speak out against the isms against the marginalized people in our society. My goal is to play my secondary instruments well for performance and teaching. I hope to inspire other women to enter into the industry of Music Technology.
