Bio
Gordon Kahan has been teaching guitar lessons professionally for over 25 years. A former student of Joe Satriani, I began teaching at Guitar Trader in San Diego, CA, in 1988. I also studied music at the University of California at San Diego and am an expert transcriber.
A veteran of many bands, playing both original and cover music, I am adept at many styles but specialize in Rock, Metal, Blues and Classical. Later in my career I studied Jazz with the very talented Lorn Leber (Jerry Garcia Band).
While I love playing and performing my primary focus has always been teaching guitar. Many of my former students have gone on to have exceptional professional careers, including Mark Lettieri (Snarky Puppy), Scott Henson (bassist for the "Glee" band), and several others who make their living writing and performing music.
