Automatic multitrack stem generation

Soundslice can now automatically generate multitrack stems for MP3 recordings.

After you’ve uploaded an MP3 to one of your slices, you can use our new “Auto-generate stems” feature to automatically extract stems from that MP3.

We currently support four stems:

  • Vocals
  • Drums
  • Bass
  • Other (basically everything else, such as guitars, pianos, etc.)

We’ve already had excellent support for stem playback, which works seamlessly with other parts of our player (looping, slowdown, speed training, focus mode, synced metronome and more). But until today, you had to upload stems yourself. Now we can automatically generate them for you.

For more info on how you can generate stems, see our updated help page.

And here are some ideas on how you can use stems:

  • When transcribing a recording: mute the drums and bass to make it easier to hear what the pianist is playing.
  • When transcribing a recording: mute the lead instrument and activate synth overlay to hear your transcribed music play over the original rhythm section. Makes it easy to detect pitch and timing errors.
  • When practicing with a recording: mute the lead instrument and play along with the original rhythm section.
  • When practicing with a recording: mute the rhythm section and provide your own rhythm (great for percussionists).
