Soundslice year in review, 2025
December 16, 2025
It’s been a productive year here at Soundslice. Just in case you haven’t been following our product updates, here are the big improvements we’ve made in 2025.
In our player, we...
- Added a way to practice with a PDF or photo instead of the Soundslice notation engine.
- Made a lot of improvements to our synth playback, including: better percussion sounds, support for dynamics, multiple percussion soundbanks, multi-note tremolo playback and overall better sound quality.
- Added more ways to automatically display things in your music: rhythm counts (1+2+3+4), “Boomwhackers” colors, solfège (fixed do) and percussion map legends.
- Added a way to adjust playback latency, for those of you using Bluetooth headphones.
- Expanded our support for multitrack stems, adding automatic stem generation for MP3s you upload plus several usability improvements and support for 16 stems at a time.
- Improved usability with videos: double-tap the left or right to seek by 10 seconds, drag to quickly make them fullscreen.
- Added a way to record audio of yourself directly within Soundslice.
- A bunch more...
In our notation editor, we...
- Totally redesigned our syncpoint editor to make it clearer and easier to use.
- Added a way to auto-align audio with notation.
- Added support for custom percussion maps.
- Added an MP3 export feature.
- Added support for importing ASCII tab.
- Added dozens of new commands for all types of musical situations, plus a bunch more...
In our PDF/photo scanning engine, we...
- Added support for detecting hairpins, tempo markings, drum sticking, multi-note tremolos and chord diagrams.
- Added an "instrument assignment" tool that lets you tell the system which staves go with which instruments.
- Added automatic slant correction for uploaded images.
- Continued to improve all of our machine-learning models, improving accuracy systemwide.
- A bunch more...
In other parts of our site, we...
- Gave you more control over how your music looks when you share it.
- Added a way for students to share their slices with teachers.
- Added a lot of functionality to lists, like: a way to reorder their contents, support for nested lists and instant slice navigation when practicing in a list.
We hope you’ll find something here that helps you learn, practice or teach music a bit better.
Thanks for using our stuff, and best wishes for a happy 2026.
