Basic slice details

The Slice details screen is where you edit a slice’s name, artist and description.

You can access it in a few different ways:

  • When editing the slice (on a large screen): click the slice title at upper left.
  • When editing the slice (on a small screen such as a phone): click at top left and choose “Edit slice details…”
  • From your library: find your slice, click at right and choose “Edit slice details…”

You’ll see a screen like this:

The available fields are:

  • Title — The slice’s name.
  • Artist — An optional artist or composer name.
  • Description — An optional textual description.
  • Show description in notation — Whether the description should be displayed at the top of the notation for anybody viewing this slice.

The slice description

What’s the description for? It’s deliberately open-ended. Here are some ideas on what you might want to put in there:

  • Tips on performing this piece.
  • The current status of your work (if you’re in the middle of making the slice).
  • Instructions for students viewing the slice.
  • Web links to relevant resources for this piece of music.

We don’t support formatting (bold, italics, etc.) in the description, but we do support links. Any URL you put in the description will automatically be converted to a clickable link.

See also private notes, which are a separate feature for leaving yourself timestamped comments on the slice.
